Camp Devereux 2015 Pics!

Week # 8 was as fun as ever!

The final week at Camp Devereux is always the best and this year was no exception! Campers played Carnival games such as duck pond, water balloon toss, sack races and more.

We had our one and only full day of rain and even with that most everyone swam.

We celebrated Ariella’s birthday.

The last day had us celebrating the friendships made with a pizza party and treasure hunts!

We want to thank all of our Camp Devereux families for a wonderful summer and we wish everyone a fantastic up coming school year!

Week #7's theme was "Things That Go!"

Because of some renovations going on on and around our campus the campers were able to watch many types of trucks and excavating machines at work.

Everyone enjoyed decorating , putting together and flying their own balsa wood airplanes.

No doubt the best truck of the week was the annual visit from Terry's ice cream truck!!

Mid summer also brought back one of our favorite traditional crafts weaving pot holders.

Next up: Our final week of camp with the theme being carnival!

Week #6 was a HOT ONE!

How to keep cool during a hot week at Camp Devereux: swim in pool, run in sprinkler, enjoy a cool popsicle and then back to the pool!!

In between water activities we had a nature scavenger hunt on the trails. Played camp games, and played in the shade.

The older campers are doing a wonderful job at pool maintenance, keeping the deck so very clean.

On Friday we had a butterfly release which we all enjoyed.

A huge thank you to camper Gabriel's parents, owners of Howling Wolf, for a spectacular lunch delivered for all of our hard working councilors! A nice way to celebrate a Friday! It is very much appreciated!

Week #5 at Camp Devereux was busy and fun!

Our theme was “under the sea” and we started out with a fascinating visit from the folks from the Northeastern University Marine Science Center.

They brought touch tanks and a diving video and we all learned a lot!! A huge Thank You to Brian Helmuth, his daughter Morgan and the interns that they brought along.

It appeared that this week’s art project with Miss Dee was the favorite so far, beautiful jellyfish that that we hung in our windows.

Tristan and Shea both celebrated their birthdays with popsicles by the flag pole and Gracie lost her first tooth.

We also had a huge community garden harvest and even after making loaves of zucchini bread and batches of zucchini chips we have way more than we can possibly eat. If you would like to bring one home just ask.

Have a great weekend!

Week #4 at Camp Devereux was fantastic!

The theme was France and we learned French words and songs, created a French craft with Miss Dee, enjoyed baguettes and chocolate with Madame Virginie and lastly, made a huge French flag painted using our hands and feet!! Other activities were trail walks, games and a lot of swimming! Next up: week #5 and the theme of “Under the Sea”

We also had a visit from Mimi’s daughter who entertained us with her drumming!

We are hitting our stride here at camp and it appears that we have many happy campers!

The swim lessons are really coming together with great leaps being made by campers of all levels. A few of the many activities of the week were: bubbles, crystal making experiments, making our own ice cream, friendship bracelet making and our first community harvest of our garden!

We also had a visit from Mimi’s daughter who entertained us with her drumming!

Week #2 at Camp Devereux was full of fun!

We celebrated our love of our country with songs, crafts and a special snack.
In art we made patriotic flags and red, white and blue visors. We sang Grand Old Flag and Pledged Allegiance to our flag.
We had a colorful snack of red strawberries and blueberries along with a bit of white whip cream.
Of course we also did a lot of swimming and the older campers had a cannon ball contest.
Wishing everyone a safe and fun long weekend!

Camp Devereux is off to a great start!

Week #1 had us greeting old friends and councilors and meeting new friends. We took our swim tests and the littlest campers put their toes in the pool. We had art with Miss Dee, gardened with Natalie, beaded with Claudia and baked friendship bread with Laura. Everyone agreed that this is going to be a fantastic summer!
